Monroe, NY - A full scale search continues in the village of Kiryas Joel for a 10 year old autistic boy who has been missing for several hours.

Shimon Zorger, who was outside his family’s Lizensk Boulevard home with his father, wandered off at approximately 6 PM this evening and a massive search, which includes state troopers, K-9 units, Chaverim and other volunteers, is currently underway and it is believed that he is still within the village of Kiryas Joel.

“There was a report that he was seen in the village at around 9:30, but because he is autistic he has a tendency to run away when approached,” Donald Marshall of the Kiryas Joel Public Safety Patrol told VIN News.

A spokesperson for the New York State Police confirmed that the ground search, which currently does not include any helicopters, encompasses a wide circumference around the town of Monroe and the village of Kiryas Joel.

Zorger was wearing a black and white striped shirt at the time of his disappearance.  This is the second time within a week that the boy has wandered off.

Anyone with any information regarding Shimon Zorger’s whereabouts is asked to contact the State Police at 845-782-8311 or the Kiryas Joel Public Safety Office at 845-782-5577.

Director of Kiryas Joel Public Safety director Moses Witriol is reporting that the search is still continuing, as of 11:30 PM, with state police, KJPS and volunteers searching the wooded areas around Lizensk Boulevard.  Anyone wishing to join the search is asked to report the the KJPS command center at Lizensk Boulevard and the public is requested to say Tehillim for Shimon ben Raizel Devorah.

offer to help the family of an autistic child. There is no clear information on what causes autism, I just have to say it is the will of the RBSO.

Sometimes I have to wonder what some posters on this site use in lieu of brains. I'm sure the Zorger family is consoled at this difficult time knowing that they were punished by the Ebeshter for some unknown reason by having a child with Autism.

There is a very simple And cost effective solution to such situations.

There is Tracking devices that could be put on Bracelets, watches, Shoes, Belts, etc. And you can track precisely the Location of the Device/Child.

If he wondered off before it would be wise to put it on him and to Ppl with his Condition. If I'm not mistaking Shomrim in BP offer that service/System not expensive at all

I'm assuming they do since they ask to contact KJPS if you're interested in helping

I don't think that's what was intended. Look at #1's SN...he/she wanted to head off any negative comments before they were uttered. But obviously, it didn't work. How/why autism exists is not the point. A child is still missing @ 7:00 AM (it was on the radio.) Do we have to fight over EVERYTHING? Who needs enemies, we Jews do a great job of killing each other without outside help.

and saying that hashem punished them is better. a child is not a punishment hashem gave them that soul to watch over for what ever reason. and like I once her the lubavitch rebbe say between people they may be difficult but they are well connected to the holy one above .
MAY HASHEM BLESS THAT FAMILY.

Caring for an autistic child is almost impossible, things happen. Help if you want, volunteer daily if you think you could do better.
Been there.
Having an autistic child is a challenge but not a punishment.
Autistic kids are very sensitive to any irritation, they wear clothing with the labels removed. They will get the tracking device off in no time.

This Autism and hundreds of others are all the result of un-monitored Metzitza Bpeh. They only started taking it serious about seven years ago.
Imagine, a remedy that was intended just for the sake of child safety, ended up causing so much harm.

I read about this GPS tracker that comes in a small, thin tile. Google 'thetileapp'.
I don't think it came out yet but you can still order it. I think parents/caregivers of children and elderly could benefit from this kind of technology. May the BaShefer help them find him speedily.

You cannot be more right in this, i would not be also surprised if saying he is autistic is a ruse to get the authorities to search for him more diligently.
