According to reports on Israeli news site Ch. 2, (http://goo.gl/CmweYR) 50 year old Hertzel Moshiach had been waiting for a bus on Rechov Weitzman in the Kiryat Sanz section of Netanya, next to Laniado Hospital, at approximately 11 PM Motzei Shabbos . As previously reported on VIN News, Moshiach was beaten after a group of chareidim allegedly observed him looking at a pregnant chareidi woman who was also waiting at the bus stop.

In a video taken at Moshiach’s bedside Moshiach’s sister, Esther Shem Tov, recounted that neighbors alerted her to the attack.

“They said, ‘Esther, run, they are killing your brother. We don’t know if he is alive or dead but they are beating him with deathly blows’.”

“How a healthy person is going, not hurting anyone, never does anything wrong to anyone ever and the tznius squad decides to attack him, for what? Because he looked at a pregnant woman?” added another sister, Racheli Tzabari.

According to eye witnesses, the attackers followed Moshiach to his house, where they tied up his hands and feet and placed Moshiach, who was screaming for help, into a waiting black vehicle.

“I heard someone scream ‘help, help!’,” reported one eye witness. “I looked up and I saw these chareidi men and an older man.”

Another eye witness said that he was not able to see the vehicle’s license plate but that it drove off in the direction of Kiryat Sanz and that the attackers were clearly dressed as chareidim. Both eye witnesses requested to have their faces obscured in the video out of fear of retribution from the attackers.

Authorities believe that Moshiach was beaten unconscious in the car and was later found lying in critical condition, in a pool of his own blood in Kiryat Sanz. Israeli police have yet to make any arrests in the case but they are investigating the incident and vowing to bring those responsible for the attack to justice.

“I want them to come here and see him,” said Tzabari. “I want them to tell me why they did this.”

    UNBEILIVABLE!!!
How could a yid do such a thing to another jew. He looked at a pregnant woman? Nu what? if this would be in time of סנהדרין would he be חייב מיתה? Come on, please.
Why didn’t they attack the woman for being on the street when we know כל כבודה בת מלך פנימה?
I wonder how these guys sleep at night.

This story makes no sense to me.

If the person is unconscious and the attackers fled, how would anyone know the reason he was attacked?

If this wasn’t the case I wonder if their would be an apology from the writers of this story.

    The thugs were judge and jury? label me crazy but;
1, How can you really know what someone is looking at?
2, I am not crazy but if the figure was enough to draw attention, perhaps she should be more tzenuah!
I do not blame women for attracting attacks but I do feel that if a woman attracts attention there might be a G-D to decide what should happen.

There’s probably more to this story than looking at a pregnant woman but it still doesn’t justify kidnapping someone and beating him almost to death. It’s outrageous and it’s very disappointing that the police haven’t arrested anyone yet probably for fear of them rioting after that. What a disgrace.

The story sounds crazy the way it is written. If it is true, I wonder whether the rotzchim follow the same Torah as I do. But it sounds like there is more to the story. Even so, it sounds rediculous.

Poster #3 is right on here… there is a lot more to this story. He probably rather would have been killed rather then face the real story.

At face value, there is, of course, no justification for what these people did to him.
I truly hope they are apprehended and investigated/prosecuted.

However, I do have one question: It seems something is missing.

The reports do not mention HOW does anybody know why this man was beaten.

None of the witnesses are reported as hearing the “Chareidim” saying or yelling “This is for looking at the woman”.
The witnesses were not even close enough to get the license-plate.

Did they actually hear the men berating the victim for “Histaklus B’nushim”? (And the news-report forgot to mention their words?) Or is everybody simply assuming that this is the reason for the beating?

I am sure there is much more to the story, i can assure you its not for looking on a pregnant lady don’t make a fool of yourself by believing this

From original article, a [somewhat abridged] translation:

“Around 12 midnight last night, a young couple holidaying in Kiryat Tsanz went for a walk and to enjoy a bit of fresh air on the outskirts of the town. A secular passer-by, pushed the woman and her husband and shouted at them ‘You lot don’t let others walk in the street’. The young man grabbed hold of the attacker and threw him to the ground, but the attacker got up and proceded to beat up the young man. Other passers-by collected and the attacker then started beating [his victim] even worse. A few of the onlookers grabbed him and bundled him into a car and drove into the town with him, where they released him, not before he almost smashed some of the car’s windows. Once freed he continued to attack people on the street, accompanied by weird screams. He was again subdued by passers by and severely beaten, whilst other residents called the police, who took him to hospital.”

It seems like this guy has had previous violent attacks against strangers. It seems like the “pregnant lady” has nothing todo with this, and may even just be a cover ploy.

No excuse. If he did something unlawful, they could have held him until the police got there. Unless he threw the first punch, literally. Then they’d have been justified to defend themselves but not to beat him to a bloody pulp. Something’s rotten in the state of Israel, Hashem Yerachem.

I have a friend that lives over there. He told me this gentleman was running after boys and girls day and night and trying to to get close to them. He was warned several times not to enter the community and he didn’t listen. He approached this pregnant woman and not letting her go.after all this happened they took action against him. I think this guy deserves what he got.

They should go to Jaffa Street and beat up some more. What’s gonna happen then?
