“I have heard reports from officials in the Ministry of Health that some people are concerned about taking the vaccination for Polio,” Yosef wrote in a public letter published and distributed to the media.”

“This treatment also comes under the [religious injunction] of protecting one’s physical well-being. Bearing this in mind, it is a holy obligation and commandment on every parent to vaccinate their children against the Polio disease in accordance with the precise directions of the Ministry of Health which is doing holy work. ‘He who listens to us will dwell in safety.’”

The Polio virus, which causes paralysis in children, was detected in sewage treatment plants in February in several cities around the country.

The Ministry of Health subsequently decided to conduct a nationwide vaccination campaign which is currently underway.

Later on Wednesday, a joint letter was issued by both Yosef and Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi David Lau instructing people to have their children vaccinated against the disease.

The joint letter noted that failure to have children vaccinated could lead to harm to public health.

The haredi website B’hadrei Haredim noted that some parents from the haredi community who are not having their children vaccinated, prompting the pronouncements on the issue from the chief rabbis.

“May it be God’s will that the words of scripture ‘All the diseases with which I afflicted Egypt I will not afflict you with because I am God your healer,” concluded Rabbi Yosef.

It is most worthy to point out that there are today tens of thousands of responsible parents in the USA, Israel, and other countries that refuse to immunize themselves and/or their children, after having become educated about the great health dangers that come together with taking those government mandated vaccines, many of which became mandated only as a result of pharmaceutical companies paying politicians to get the legislation into law. The dangers directed particularly toward children that come with receiving vaccines ought not be ignored. There are many professionals today in the medical field that share this opinion. I find it disgraceful how two new chief rabbis in Israel have publicly displayed their gross ignorance by meddling in such dangerous medical matters. If they are seeking attention from the media, better that they endorse a ban on the sale of 16 oz. cups of soda, or use of escalators, or better yet, let them speak against the draft of yeshiva bachurim, but not meddle with the health and safety of our children.

one year old boy in Monsey just passed away (about two weeks ago) after being in a coma for a month, after suffering a debilitating form of bacterial meningitis. Oh, and the boy was NOT vaccinated. They paid for this experiment with this child’s life.
