Christie’s says “Untitled (No. 11)” will lead its post-war and contemporary art sale on Nov. 12.

The oil painting, created in 1957, is estimated to sell for between $25 million and $35 million.

The monumental work by the American abstract expressionist was purchased by the current owner at a Christie’s sale in 1992.

The painting, measuring 79 inches by 69 inches, is reminiscent of a radiating sunset.

Last May, Christie’s sold Rothko’s “Orange, Red, Yellow” for $86.8 million. It set a record for any contemporary artwork at auction.

Is this one of Ira Merkin’s? Perhaps there will now be proceeds to pay to the people he lost money for by funneling their money to Madoff.
