Officials from both companies say Nathan’s Famous hot dogs will be sold in vending machines run by Valley Cottage-based Kosher Vending Industries LLC.

Nathan’s chief executive Eric Gatoff says the machines will help the company reach a growing audience of kosher customers. All Nathan’s franks are beef, but relatively few are produced and served under a rabbi’s oversight. They have been available only in certain restaurants.

Kosher Vending Industries chief executive Alan Cohnen says the machines will get the dogs grilled and the buns warmed within 34 seconds. The company already has machines serving kosher items ranging from pizza and knishes. [nydailynews]

The hot dogs Kosher Vending Industries and Nathans Famous are producing are going to be GLATT KOSHER and will not be out for a few months. They are not the Kosher ones that are out right now. Those will be nonexistant when the GLATT KOSHER ones reach the market. KVI is in talks with different manufacturers like Meal Mart to private label the Nathans recipe for Kosher Vending Industries.

Rubashkun is glatt kosher – what are your basing your statement on?

Hey tina – Rubashkin makes meats that are not glatt. Better take a look at the hechsher on Nathans franks – would you serve this to your kids?
look under UMKosher.com. THen ask the holy rabbi if he will eat the meat himself?

to anonymous 12:35am if kaj pulled their hashgacha for a violation than they would not allow rubashkin to “use up their stickers”… clearly it was a buisness related manner, and they have to wait till their contract is up bec. there was no breach in contract.

8:37 PM – and would you eat in Chasidic (read: kosher) restaurants in the Catskills in the summer with the fly paper hanging above the tables and the babies being changed in the sinks?

“The KAJ, who is a fairly “Middle-of-the-road” hechsher even pulled their hechsher. They just are giving Rubashkin a couple of more months to use up the labels.”

Hey, the mice wouldn’t be any less kosher than Rubashkin’s crap.

Rubashkin may be the largest “Kosher” meat provider, but the only thing kosher about them is their label.

The KAJ, who is a fairly “Middle-of-the-road” hechsher even pulled their hechsher. They just are giving Rubashkin a couple of more months to use up the labels.

Any pots I have they may have cooked Rubashkin meats have been kashered. Any dishes tossed in the dumpster.

I will no longer eat at most kosher restaurants, as most use at least some Rubashkin products. The same goes for “Supreme” which is their product, only under a different name. The new label was made to try to get those who won’t eat Rubashkin any more to have another choice. But, it is just as bad, produced in Uruguay under the poor supervision of MM Weismandl who is a known liar.

There in Uruguay, they shecht animals that are turned away by the other companies who are really kosher.

If you eat Rubashkin today, you may as well eat Pork.

I have seen these machines at my local 7-11. The pizza comes in a sealed package and is heated while sealed. If any mice or roaches get in, you would be able to tell just by looking at the package. I assume the hot dogs would be the same. If it’s not sealed, it would be a problem of bossur sh’nisalem min hayin.

Besides, if they are produced by Rubashkin, they are no more kosher than they used to be.

    Today, Rubashkin ranks with:
    Ball Park
    Oscar Meyer
and the rest of the non-kosher stuff

Also who is there to prevent rodent and roach infestation.
Remember one thing . mice can get in 1/4 inch spaces , they have no back bone. And roaches can populate inside the machine itself.

I would stay away from any food item which requires refrigeration. Even if they had a Rabbi inside the machine . why? because how do u know when the machines break down (happens very often) or fail to cool the meat chicken etc. properly and after the blackout wich could be sometimes last a day or to, then it goes back on but who was there to let you know?
