CRAIN’S (http://bit.ly/1c9z0qP) reports that members of the Rockland Economic Development Corp. said that a business affiliate of B&H, Chestnut Ridge Venture LLC, purchased a 158-acre lot in Chestnut Ridge in December of 2012 for $9.3M, and that local officials in Rockland County have quietly confirmed the B&H move, though no official announcement has been made.

A B&H spokesman would only say that the company would “consider” possible tristate locations once its current lease expires.

Some are speculating that plans by presumptive mayor-elect Bill de Blasio to expand living-wage and sick-leave legislation might possibly be reasons for B&H’s planned move, as many of its Navy Yard jobs are warehouse-associated, and towards the lower end of the pay scale.

Adam Friedman, director of the Pratt Center for Community Development, said, “You never want to lose any jobs, but there is this flowering and opening up of new businesses in the city and the yard. You see again and again small companies emerging. It becomes much more challenging when you get to B&H’s size. At that point, real estate costs can become overwhelming.”

Who could blame them for wanting to move given the leftist stranglehold on the NYC political scene?
They are earning the money, shouldn’t they have the right to spend as they wish. Without the confiscatory taxes in place they could have hired additional workers. Now they will once again have that chance.

They should relocate to one of these new settlements as a way to encourage people to move away from Boro Park and WIlliamsburg.

How can they “speculate that plans by presumptive mayor-elect Bill de Blasio to expand living-wage and sick-leave legislation might possibly be reasons for B&H’s planned move” when they already bought the property in Chestnut Ridge back in December 2012 and no one had a clue who would run in much less win the Democratic primary? Ridiculous speculation.

This photo is actually from bldg 77 and B&H has already moved from this bldg. The one the article is referring to is bldg 664 right next to steiner studios. Unfortunately the city will push out every business in the navy yard just to saitisfy steiner studios needs.

A little clarity would answer your questions: An affiliate of B&H purchased the lot in Chestnut Ridge. There are plenty of Jews traveling from Monsey into Manhattan and are employed at B&H, and now city employees will have to travel to Monsey.

No, I am not praising them but telling the truth. Steiner runs Brooklyn.
I had an issue with a filming crew that illegally blocked parking (outside of their permit hours) and when I questioned then I was asked if I wanted my face busted. The NYC Mayors Office for Film takes no action against Steiner. they are now being granted every chance to expand even when it forces out other businesses.

Do you really think that BH moving out of city will encourage people to. Follow?!
For some unknown reason most of us just can’t pick ourselves up and leave our buby and dear shviger and just get a better future for the kids,

Plenty of people commute from Monsey to the City and the reverse is also possible. Not as convenient if you rely on mass transit, but do-able.

Chestnut Ridge is basically Monsey. The greater Monsey area includes at least a half dozen towns that are not legally Monsey. However when not in monsey anyone from those areas say their from Monsey, Chestnut Ridge included. Good for Monsey!
