The court on Monday opted to keep Metzger in custody based upon the evidence. Superintendent Assaf Wofish, leader of the National Fraud Unit, gave the judge only some of the available evidence. The police haven’t handed over the incriminating videos yet.

Metzger is acused to have committed fraud, bribery, money laundering, breach trust and witness tampering as well as obstruction of justice.

The Jerusalem prosecutor and the tax authority both believe the crimes involve several million shekels. (One Israeli shekel equals €0.21or 0.28USD.)

The secular israeli pork eating shabbos violators lock up the old president for seven years, lock up the chief rabbi as well as many religious jews who protest against their attack on our Torah but release arab murderers in order to look good in the eyes of anti semitic europe. One day we chareidim take over and every frum jew is going home from prison and every arab murderer will get the death penalty. Can’t wait

When our children and grandchildren are constantly reading articles like this one, is it any wonder they lose all respect for all men of the cloth! Who will be the role models for our future as a nation! Its high time to incorporate compulsory intense learning of chovas helevovos, mesilas yeshorim and orchos tzadikim in all public offices of all rabbis appointed over a tzibur including chief rabbis! Then perhaps morals and ethics will trickle down the pipeline! HASHEM yazor!

Choose not to believe it. Innocent until proven guilty.

If guilty he can be chief rabbi of the local prison. I’m sure there is a need for this.

He’s entitled to his day in court.
And we’re entitled to understand why Gedolei Yisroel backed him for the post.

    To #17
Gedoley yisroel backed him for political reasons and not for who he was/is
It shows that even the Gedolim of our generation don’t have a way to ensure the integrity of the person they believe is the right man for the job
If the allegations are correct (and for that we need to wait for his day in court) it only proves that the man had poor judgement and when it came to his own free choice he chose the wrong path
This can drag along for years and even if at the end of the process he is exonerated the damage is done, so just remember the level of responsibility you have to exercise when you are a Rabbi of any level and particularly a Rabbi who represents the state of Israel

If he is in a cell with another inmate, I hope the other guy keeps his back to the wall. That sort of behaviour may no longer be illegal under Israeli civil law but it is certainly ossur b’halocha. Our Yoina has been know to be a player in that game for years
