Image grab from WNBCBrooklyn, NY – A 22 year old aspiring fashion designer who had been partying with friends in the early morning hours last weekend told police that it was a group of over a dozen Chasidic men who beat him, leaving him with a broken eye socket and a torn retina.

According to NBC News reports, Taj Patterson, who had been drinking on a party bus with friends before the alleged attack took place on the morning of December 1st, isn’t sure what prompted the incident, although he suggested his mode of dress may have played a part in the early morning melee.

“They came up behind me, they grabbed me, they punched me in the face, kicked me down, knocked me out,” said Paterson.

Four witnesses, including the driver of a B57 bus, who left his vehicle to come to Patterson’s aid, told police about the beating.

An NYPD spokesperson told VIN News that the incident is being investigated as a hate crime, possibly because of Patterson’s sexual orientation.

The alleged attack took place at 4:45 AM at 475 Flushing Avenue in Williamsburg. Police sources confirmed that Patterson suffered lacerations and bruising to his face and was treated at Woodhull Hospital.

“We are still in the investigative stages,” police sources told VIN News, adding that they could not confirm whether or not the alleged assailants were from the Chasidic community, only that it was “a group of males.”

Patterson, who was drunk at the time of the alleged attack, was too intoxicated to make a statement on the morning of the incident and the New York Post is reporting that he was called to the 90th precinct yesterday to give a statement on the confrontation.

NY Assemblyman Dov Hikind, who represents the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, told NBC News, “something obviously happened” to Patterson, but the allegation was “bizarre.”

It “sounds so out of character,” Hikind said.

This story lacks factual ground and should have never been published. There is no confirmation by police at this point, whether or not the alleged assailants were from the Chasidic community. These horrific acts go against everything the orthodox Jews believe in both morally and ethically. The media’s intent for publishing this story is only to spread slander on the peaceful Chasidic community.

amazing how it takes over five assaults on yidden for the nypd to classify the attacks as possible hate crimes, while one black alleges abuse and the nypd is scrambling for solving the ‘hate crime’…what gives??? why aren’t we demanding equilibrium???

What evidence whatsoever is there that this beating, if indeed it occurred and if indeed it involved multiple men dressed in Chasidic garb, was a hate crime?

    1. To most non-jews, any outwardly appearing jew (yamulka/tzitzis/beard) would be classified as “hassidic”.
    2. How would anyone know his sexual orientation – unless he pointed it out.
    3. He suggests his “mode of dress” as what may have prompted the incident. This is NY – you have chassidim, punk rockers, hippies & more – and no one even notices anymore. Unless he was promoting some agenda with his mode of dress.
    4. Being drunk and not being able to give a police statement can hardly qualify as knowing what occurred.
    5. Something happened – but this is only part of the story.

Just hope Sharpton & Dinkins shouldn’t change their approach towards Condemning Knockouts Against Hasidim.all because that “alleged” Black Man.

“police sources told VIN News, adding that they could not confirm whether or not the alleged assailants were from the Chasidic community, only that it was “a group of males.”
Unbelievable…….. They’re not even sure if it was Hasidic Jews only that it was a group of males and NBC is already speculating that it might have been a hate crime when in the same time they wouldn’t say on the knock out attacks against elderly Jewish people that it is a hate crime even though it is carried out by blacks…..

Even according the Alleged the Most he can claim is that it was a Knockout attack in reverse as a revenge. But Not A Anti-Gay or radical attack whatsoever.

You can see that there is a previous animosity in the mix, when you hear comments like ‘people shouldn’t be able to think that just because they have certain attire, they can get away with it. We are all equal here’. That makes the thing suspicious, leaves a cloud over his account of the alleged assault..

He is being prompted by someone in the background, it can be seen at 0:34. Who is coaching him, feeding him the story, and why? You can also see him motioning dismissively and smiling/smirking at 1:30.

Also, at the end of the video, the sound drops out and we can see that he is talking, but don’t hear what he says. Did he say something problematic then, that a friend of his edited out? Perhaps someone can read his lips or get the audio for it. It should be saved in case someone tries to delete it.

Maybe he tried to kill someone, or who knows what, all he knows is that he was punched, doesn’t know how it started, wasn’t even capable to give a statement to police, the sky is the limit what may of occurred before that.

    Typical post reporting.

Good things they were not armed or they could have killed this poor guy.

Extremely unlikely story — a dozen Chassidim out at 4:45 AM and beating up some drunken kid who just got off the bus. Dov Hikind’s right, the story sounds bizarre.

He was on a party bus parked on Flushing Avenue middle of the night? must have been a brawl on the bus and they decided “why not blame the Jews”. I’ve lived in this neighborhood all my life and have yet to see a group of Chasidic men roaming the streets and beating up a black man, no less, at that hour.
This story has no foundation and the “victim” should be investigated for instigating a potential for racial unrest.

I would like to say that I would never think a jewish commentary against anyone would resort to violence, but in light of the jewish experiences we have seen in Israel today, nothing would surprise me. (Beit Shemesh incidents and more including the price tag terrorism). I hope at the least it is a wake up call to all yidden to really mind their way today. It might not be a jewish assault on the fellow at all, but we have to act as if that was indeed a possibility. Hashem questions anyone who does not have the humility to realize that their own ways may not be perfect or written in the heavens.

Obviously this is a hate crime, but not because he is black. It was his “mode of dress”. He was wearing a leather jacket (see picture). This was a minyon of vegan chosidim – animal rights chumra-maniacs. They saw the skin of an animal on this guy’s upper body and went nuts. I hope he learned his lesson.
