Albany, NY - Governor David Paterson announced a plan to put the medical information of New Yorkers online.
The state has awarded $105 million in grants to 19 community based IT projects to pay for the initiative.
The goal is to put patients' medical information at the fingertips of any doctor who needs it to save time and prevent medical mistakes.

While it will be great for doctors to have all of a patient's medical information at hand, who else will have access to everyone's medical info, and what can be done when this info gets out?
Patient privacy must remain top priority, even if it makes the project cost more in time and money.
