Manhattan, NY - Council Speaker Quinn Won't Attend COJO's Breakfas (Again) |

Manhattan, NY - Council Speaker Christine Quinn will not be attending tomorrow's legislative breakfast hosted by the Council of Orthodox Jewish Organizations of the West Side.
Her aide insisted Quinn's absence will be because she has a scheduling conflict out of state, and not because of a disagreement over whether she was invited or not.
Consultant Ezra Friedlander reiterated that Quinn had indeed been invited, although he allowed that the request had likely been sent electronically and thus could easily have ended up lost in a spam filter somewhere.
Asked if this would hurt Quinn's standing with the Jewish community, Friedlander responded:
"Absolutely not," adding: "There will be hundreds of events in the next couple of years. I'm sure she'll attend many of them. She has been around. She has been very forthcoming."
This isn't the first time Quinn, has been left out of a COJO-related event. In March 2006, her name mysteriously disappeared from a save-the-date flyer sent out by a COJO of Flatbush event.
At tomorrow's breakfast, two of Quinn's fellow 2009 mayoral contenders, Rep. Anthony Weiner and Comptroller Bill Thompson, are both scheduled to attend and speak at what is being billed as the first major Jewish political event of the '09 season.
