Jerusalem, Israel - Edah Haredis May Withdraw Alon Kosher Certifications |

Jerusalem, Israel - A dispute between Alon Israel Oil Company and the Hareidi community is intensifying.
Three weeks ago, the Hareidi community began withdrawing its patronage of Alon stores Dor Alon, Blue Square, AM:PM and Shefa Shuk because AM:PM is open on Shabbat, as was reported by VIN News.
The Edah Haredit, is now threatening to withdraw its certifications from Shefa Shuk fruits and vegetables if an official ban is announced from Edah Haredit leaders.
Edah Haredit rabbinical committee secretary Rabbi Yitzhak Goldknopf said that a signature campaign is underway to persuade Alon to close all of its retail businesses on Shabbat.
Shefa Shuk has responded by saying it will seek out alternative kosher certification if Edah Haredit withdraws its seals of approval. [IsraelNN]
