New York - The driver for New York City's transportation commissioner has been ticketed for speeding while heading to the state capital.
A spokesman for DOT Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan confirmed that the unidentified driver also got a summons for improper use of flashing lights.
It happened as the commissioner was being driven to Albany for meetings on congestion pricing.
The Daily News, which first reported the story, indicated the driver might have tried to make up time after getting caught in a big traffic jam.
Sadik-Khan had no immediate comment. [AP]

An EMERGENCY is when a Human life is in danger period.
Meeting and "important" votes can wait, at least as far as I am concerned.
Since the cops (certain cops, not all) always seem to be overly concerned about Hatzoloh and the L&S issue I would at least expect them to condemn this guy. But nada, not a peeps from the chimpanzees on The(e) RANT!!!
And can somebody tell me why the DOT commissioner needs lights in his vehicle to begin with?
I mean Hatzolah needed special legislation have L&S in personal cars and we're always reminded about it. WHY DOES THE DOT COMMISIONER NEED THEM IN HIS CAR????

What about the mayor/governor or presidential motorcades who always go l&s. How about some yimach shimoinik diplomat who comes to visit NYC and gets escorted in to manhattan Lights & siren putting other citizens at risk. All of it should be stopped. except for life and death situations

the term EMERGENCY is too a vague term.
They must specify exactly what emergency means. By some it would mean having to use the bathroom . and by some it can mean i am late for a meeting. All are correct answers but that is not what we call a life n death situation.

I work for N.Y.C. I drive a official veichle. There is no reason that they should have been speeding. The first thing they tell you when you get hired is that no playing with the Lights and sirens unless there is a Emergency.

Where are you all Hatzolah haters who complain day in, day out about Hatzolah abusing lights and siren?
Where are the hate-filled posts from ex-cops (and a few self-hating Chasidim) who are always whining about Hatzolah???
