Albany, NY - New York Senate Democratic leader Malcolm Smith says he doesn't have enough votes to assure approval of Mayor Michael Bloomberg's plan to reduce traffic and air pollution in Manhattan.
Smith, who represents part of Queens and supports the congestion pricing plan, says he doesn't have enough members willing to side with the Senate's Republican majority on the proposal to charge fees for driving in certain high-traffic parts of the city.
The state Legislature is facing a deadline of midnight Monday to act on the plan. But opposition from suburban and outer borough representatives makes approval uncertain.
A spokesman for the Senate's GOP majority, however, says there will be enough votes to support the plan by Monday. [AP]

Thank Godness! I hope they never get to pass this thig. I guess Tuesday Bloomberg will give up on pressuring the Legislators. I hope they prevail, G-d willing.
