Cooper City, FL – A blog that the Broward Sheriff’s Office started investigating in January for anti-Jewish postings about the mayor is registered to Commissioner John Sims, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Two months ago, police started looking for clues that could lead them to those responsible for the postings on www.save coopercity.blogspot.com, as well as those responsible for etching a swastika into the car of Mayor Debby Eisinger’s campaign manager, Lori Green. Both incidents were considered hate crimes.
The Sheriff’s Office subpoenaed Google requesting information on the blog, which led them to Sims, according to the report released Tuesday. Sheriff’s Office investigators have not charged Sims or anyone else with a crime and have suspended the investigation until they get more information, spokesman Jim Leljedal said.
Sims said Thursday that he owned the blog, which was open for anyone to post comments on. He said he had nothing to do with the posting about Eisinger.
“I think that this is nothing more than an attempt to further discredit me, particularly by the mayor,” Sims said. “These allegations are totally unfounded.”
Eisinger, who was re-elected in January, said her picture appeared on the blog, defaced with a Hitler mustache drawn on her upper lip, according to the police report. On Thursday, she said Sims breached the public’s trust and should be charged with a hate crime.
“What he did is just so despicable,” Eisinger said, adding that Sims should not remain on the commission. “This is a man who is guilty of unethical, discriminatory, anti-Semitic actions.” [sunsentinel]
