The New York Post (http://bit.ly/KgTK37) reports that Cuomo has lined up support for Councilman Dan Garodnick with the help from Democratic leaders Assemblyman Carl Heastie and US Rep. Joseph Crowley.

Mayor-elect de Blasio endorsed Mark-Viverito for speaker earlier this month, angering Democratic party leaders.

Westchester resident Cuomo maintains a publicly neutral stance in the council contest.

Cuomo has presented himself as an economic moderate in his 2014 re-election strategy, going against de Blasio’s plan. The council is expected to be decided Jan. 8.

Cuomo should watch his step. Del Blasio has the backing of the people.
