Albany, NY – A 43-year tradition continues this New Year’s Eve with free coffee and hot tea offered at each of the 27 travel plazas along the 570-mile New York State Thruway.

The free beverages will be available from 11 p.m. Tuesday through 7 a.m. Wednesday.
Thruway Authority Executive Director Thomas Madison says the goal is to remind motorists to take breaks to combat fatigue that can lead to accidents.
Operators participating in the free-coffee program are McDonald’s, Delaware North Companies, and HMS Host Corporation
