The Montreal Gazette (http://bit.ly/1m9bDNg) reports that documents from a November 27 court hearing state that social workers for the Youth Protection Department of the Laurentians region made the case for the removal of 14 children from the sect. The documents were recently made public after a publication ban was lifted.

The ultra-Orthodox sect was based in Ste-Agathe until last November when most Lev Tahor members relocated to Chatham, Ont.

In their absence, St-Jérôme Youth Court Judge Pierre Hamel ordered the 14 children from three families into foster care for a minimum period of 30 days. A ruling is expected Feb. 3 from an Ontario court whether youth protection officials in that province have the authority to remove the children.

The Youth Protection Department in the Laurentians was first made aware of problems within the ultra-Orthodox sect in 2007, when a new mother was found to be taking anti-psychotic drugs in the hospital. After a short period of removal from the mother, the baby was returned.

A few months later, the baby was placed with a foster family with four other children. Officials have continued monitoring the sect since then.

Do they actually believe in the same Borei HaOlam as I do? I think not. What a chilul Hashem. Even if all the stories aren’t true, I’m sure that some of them are and those “some” cause a great chilul Hashem.

To # 9. You sound depressed. Tragedies happen on G-d’s watch but he gave us brains and willpower to overcome evil. Let’s hope the court in Canada gets to the bottom of this and protects these poor kids, and punishes the parents.

All cults are to be suspected as pushing level 5 meds wothout a docs prescription. They make frienship with a pharmacy and get it. Amd I know of at least 3 cults that are now giving these unprescribed meds to their people. I agree. Presceibed by a doctor meds do a great job and do help. Everyone here, by the way in thos page has a family member who is having a yeshia with a level 5 medicine. They are wpnderfull. Sorry for the typos, its hard on a cell.

Who cares what Province they are living in? If these kids need help, get them out of there asap. And then arrest the abusers.

These people are not chasidim or anything else that we see in the frum velt. It is a cult with all of the signs that characterize all cults. It is the same as the “moonies”, the Jim Jones group that was in guyana, etc. They are “brainwashed” and require the expertise of those familiar in treating cult members.

If they are using foot fungus as a sign of abuse, the majority of BP, willy, and KY should be arrested.

This is a cult. One has to understand how cult leaders operate. All those caught up in a cult are in danger, but the children are most in danger of abuse and neglect.
Nearly all cults have neglect as well as psychological, physical and even sexual abuse. Anyone who knows the history of Shabtai Tzvi and those who followed him knows what the historians have uncovered in those cults. I will not be at all surprised when there are revelations about any or all of these forms of abuse on the part of the leader.
