The “Kerry Plan,” writes Friedman, is expected to “call for an end to the conflict and all claims, following a phased Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank (based on the 1967 lines).”

Friedman also said that there will be “unprecedented security arrangements in the strategic Jordan Valley.”

According to Friedman, some settlements will remain under Israeli control and Israel will “compensate” Palestinians for the land.

The plan will set east Jerusalem as the Palestinian capital. It will also demand that Palestinians recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

The plan, Friedman continues, will not include any right of return for Palestinian refugees into Israel.

Friedman also claims that if Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is to agree to the terms of the “Kerry Plan,” his coalition will collapse and Netanyahu will face many challenges.
Last week at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Kerry said during a speech that the US remained committed to the Israeli Palestinian peace process but that at end of the day it is up to the Israelis and the Palestinians to reach an agreement on how to end the conflict.

The US Secretary of State met with Netanyahu at the conference in a closed-door meeting.

Kerry said in his speech that if the peace talks fail, the Palestinians risk losing their last chance for an independent state. He said for Israel, failure would mean that demographics would not allow Israel to remain a democratic and Jewish state.

Kerry stressed that the continuation of the status quo between the Israelis and Palestinians was not possible and that failure of the talks would empower extremists.

Read the Friedman piece. Was he born yesterday? Does he really think that this is such a critical moment? Haven’t there been a bazillion similar critical moments over the past 36 years?

Oh, and I love that woman “rabbi” at the interfaith meeting in the photo. But which religion is she representing?

I hope this deal goes through. There is a real opportunity here for both sides to reconcile. Of course extremist warmongers on both sides will do everything they can to scuttle the deal.

Peace is not a dirty word. Compromise is not a dirty word. The former cannot happen without the latter.

These things need to be done in stages. I say first give the Arabs ALTERG for three years. If after that time ALTERG is still in relatively good health and un-sound mind, we’ll talk about stage 2.

And the USA is not imposing a peace plan? This is the lie every president makes when the run for President.

On a another note, they know this is a no starter for both sides, and does nothing but set up Israel for failure, where they will always be reminded that the USA doesn’t consider east Jerusalem as theirs.

Didn’t Obama say he wont split Jerusalem?

Jerusalem is more a potential for success for the golden retriever of the palestinian dream than the entire community of palestinians becoming a people with a godly mission. They may be interested in holding their offices in the Jerusalem access and that probably wont stop them from becoming the aggressor again and again.

Palestinian intrigue is a war of reaction. They have no complicated direction for our world and they are just a beggar looking for a hand out. Never Again.

Kerry can plan whatever he wants. I plan on buying both a Ferrari and a Porsche next year. Doesn’t mean its going to happen.
