Victor H. Schneider of Rosendale sold information about campers and parents of Camp Rov Tov on three separate occasions. Members of the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team bought the personal information of more than fifty people. Schneider was employed as a maintenance man at Camp Rov Tov’s various locations in Ulster County.

Schneider, who is in the Ulster County Jail, was charged with Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th degree and Unlawful Possession of Personal Identification Information in the 3rd degree. He will remain incarcerated until his court appearance, which has yet to be determined.

The Ulster County Sheriff’s Department expects that additional charges will be forthcoming.

No identities were compromised during the ongoing investigation, which began in December, according to Sheriff P.J. Van Blarcum

“The case was developed through a confidential informant,” Sheriff Van Blarcum told VIN News. “As far as we know it, he only sold those identifications to us. We believe that we got to him before he sold to anyone else.”

Sheriff Van Blarcum said it was difficult to predict how long a prison term Schneider is facing at this point in time, though it could be up to ten years.

“We are extremely grateful to the Sheriff’s office for their outstanding job,” added Chaplain Joel Gold of the Ulster County Sheriff’s office.

ALWAYS use protection such as password protection as well as anti virus. I is possible this was the way he got the lists.

I don’t understand what he was trying to do. Why would someone want to buy the names?

If he was a maintenance man he had the keys to the offices, where they keep all the records. Steal the records and sell the phony i.d.s for credit cards and green cards. Records are big moolah today.
