Nouakchott, Mauritania - Police carried out a 24-hour sting operation on a cell with alleged al-Qaida ties, arresting at least five people Wednesday _ including two charged with organizing an attack on the Israeli embassy on Jan 31 2008 reported here

The Algeria-based group, called al-Qaida in Islamic North Africa, has claimed responsibility for the embassy attack in which a gunman opened fire on the building, wounding three people.
