Staten Island, NY - Family Files $20M Lawsuit after Coach Spanks Teen |
|
Staten Island, NY - The game was called “Pressure Shot.”
And the penalty for bouncing one off the basketball hoop wasn’t jeers from a crowd, but humiliating spankings on the bare buttocks from the former assistant director at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) in Greenridge, alleges a Staten Island teen in a $20 million lawsuit.
The boy contends the punishments, first administered by hulking Drew Sanders when the youth was 13, emotionally scarred him and have “forever clouded and tragically impacted” his life. The incidents, which made headlines, occurred over 15 months between April 2004 and July 2005, when the boy worked as an administrative assistant for Sanders at the Arthur Kill Road facility.
The teen, now 18, and his mother seek $5 million in compensatory damages and $15 million in punitive damages from the JCC
