Citing on-air comments earlier this week by another U.S.-based Russia Today presenter, Abby Martin, that Russian intervention in Ukraine’s Crimea region was “wrong,” Liz Wahl told viewers that “as a reporter on this network, I face many ethical and moral challenges.”

“My grandparents came here as refugees during the Hungarian revolution, ironically to escape the Soviet forces,” Wahl said, adding she was “very lucky to have grown up here in the United States.”

Wahl added she was the daughter of a military veteran and her partner was a doctor at a military base “where he sees everyday the first-hand accounts of the ultimate prices that people pay for this country.”

“And that is why personally I cannot be part of a network funded by the Russian government that whitewashes the actions of Putin,” she said.

“I’m proud to be an American and believe in disseminating the truth and that is why after this newscast, I’m resigning.”

Russia Today could not be reached for comment. The multilingual news and information network broadcasts in more than 100 countries

She has a mind of her own.

To the first three comments: What’s so “brave” about her action? She’s a born-and-bred U.S. citizen; it’s not like she’s a Russian who might have to face any consequences back home. And how is this showing any more “knaidlach” than Obama? Her action is one person quitting a job – it has no effect on anyone but her. Obama, as the president of the United States, has to think about how whatever he does may effect the U.S. relationship with Russia; whether whatever he does might make the situation worse; whether whatever he does might jeopardize U.S. interests abroad. To even compare the news-reader with the president is so moronic it defies belief.

Hey Eli, the point is she quit a presigious post ON THE AIR, during a live feed to Russia. That takes guts, as she could have stayed on and played along, or quit quietly. Unfortuately for the world, our President does not understand that standing up to hetman bullies, in Syria, in Iran, in N. Korea and even in Russia is the only way to defeat them before they destroy the free world. WW2 only occurred because of successive appeasements. Maybe Obama missed that class in school?

Really brave. A woman whose family had to escape Communist murder comes to America and works for RT- the most anti American and Jew hating site imaginable (and she is a Jew). RT.com regularly has stories on Jewish world domination and evil Israelis while whitewashing Assad and North Korea.
