New York – NY State Attorney General Appoints Israeli New Chief Economist

    New York –  New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman announced Friday that Dr. Guy Ben-Ishai has been appointed the new Chief Economist at the Office of the Attorney General.

    In his new role, Ben-Ishai will head economic analysis to support policy development, legal proceedings and investigations for New York state, and will run economic projects in the attorney general office, particularly in the Antitrust and Investor Protection bureaus.

    Ben-Ishai received a Ph.D. in economics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a BA in economics from UCLA. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Toulouse and has worked for NERA, Compass Lexecon and the Israel Antitrust Authority.

    Ben-Ishai is expected to largely assist in shaping and strengthening the office’s law enforcement efforts. He is an expert in industrial organization and applied microeconomics.
