ABC News (http://abcn.ws/1dRiYAA) reports the drone belongs to Brian Wilson, who uses the drone to record weddings and document buildings. Wilson’s small drone was recording footage of the rubble from two leveled apartment buildings demolished in the blast this morning.
Authorities asked Wilson to ground the equipment.
Two people were killed and more than 20 sustained injuries after an explosion occurred in East Harlem around 116th Street and Park at approximately 9:30 a.m.
where are the pictures he took?
Drone? This is no drone! This is a hobby shop remote control glorified toy helicopter that he had no business flying over an active police/fire emergency. This guy was very lucky he wasn’t arrested.
it is illegal to fly this in New York City it is considered a drone. This is changing the face of photography people you still need to hire helicopters to get aerial footage now people can use this, they have use this for filming movies.
That drone is a Phantom DJI. Cost about $600 at B and H. Then you need a $300 go pro video camera to take the footage. The FAA does not allow it’s use for commercial purposes. Only for fun.
