Wasselonne, France – Since 1850, France’s legendary matzoh company Etablissements Rene Neymann has gone from producing the unleavened bread strictly for local religious use to exporting its matzoh globally, throughout most of the European Union and Russia, and now even in China and Japan.

In a profile of Etablissements Rene Neymann, JTA.org (http://bit.ly/1lHWrbU) reports that Jean-Claude Neymann, currently CEO, said, “I’m the fifth generation of my family to bake matzah here in Wasselonne.”

Etablissements Rene Neymann’s roots date back to 1850, and aside from a shutdown during WWII, the company has been updating its production methods and product lines to the point where, as Passover approaches in 2014, over two-thirds of its revenues now come from exportation of its products.

“Regular matzah is still our biggest Passover item, but about 62 percent of our total manufacturing output is sold outside France,” Neymann said. “We sell throughout Europe, to Morocco, South Africa, Japan and China. There’s a big market for crackers in those countries.”
