Dancer Adrianne Haslet-Davis lost her left foot in the bombing and said Friday she asked the national news program not to mention the suspect’s name but the show used it.

NBC News spokeswoman Erika Masonhall says Haslet-Davis was due to take part in a round-table discussion and asked that the suspects’ names not be mentioned. Masonhall says given the nature of the discussion “Meet the Press” could not make that guarantee and regrets any distress caused by the miscommunication.

She says the NBC News president left a voicemail for Haslet-Davis apologizing for the confusion.

A message seeking comment was left with a representative for Haslet-Davis.

It might be a very good idea if all of us decided to never say the names of people who do very horrible things. When I was in undergraduate, my history professor told us that the Library of Alexandria was burned by a kid who wanted his name to be remembered. He told us that his name is recorded in history, but that he for one never mentioned it.

Why doesn’t she want his name used? He has one. What difference does it make to her? He should pay for what he did & she should be front & center when he does.
