EPANew York, NY – President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama were enjoying a rare night out in New York City on Friday, dining with friends at an Italian trattoria at the high-end Gramercy Park Hotel.

    They were joined by poet Elizabeth Alexander, who read at Obama’s 2009 inauguration, Chicago friends Kelly and Andrew Dibble, senior White House aide Valerie Jarrett and sportscaster and former NFL wide receiver Ahmad Rashad.

    President Obama and his wife Michelle also attended a Broadway show, “A Raisin in the Sun,” starring actor Denzel Washington.

    Obama and Rashad played golf last month during an Obama family vacation in Florida.

    The first couple was in New York Friday for Al Sharpton’s National Action Network conference, where the president spoke.

    They have friends? REAL friends? You know, the kind you hang out with, go shopping with, invite round to play Scrabble? Or just poltical allies.
