In an interview that aired Sunday, Paul said that those immigrants “are not bad people” but added the United States “can’t invite the whole world” inside its borders.

Paul, the Kentucky Republican eyeing a 2016 campaign, says Bush should have kept his focus on controlling the U.S. borders.

Bush, a former Florida governor, says the GOP cannot demonize immigrants and should show compassion. He described illegal immigration as an “act of love” by people trying to provide for their families.

Paul was interviewed on ABC’s “This Week” during a visit to early nominating New Hampshire.

Buy more cheap red wine if Mr. Rand Paul Becomes President. You will need it to water the flowers.

Knowing Sen. Paul, I’d suspect his next line would have been “The US can’t _invade_ the whole world.”
    – while I have issues with a lot of his positions, I do have to admire his plain talking simplicity.

What sort of people does he want to let in? People that look like him, I suppose.

A basic paradox in progressivism is that they are always clamoring for increased welfare and increased immigration. (Both are obvious ploys to buy or import more sympathetic voters.) However, the two are not compatible. You cannot offer lavish welfare while also allowing anyone in the world who wants to become a citizen – your country will go bankrupt after just a few days.

I say we should liberalize our immigration policies, as long as new immigrants are barred for life from receiving welfare or voting.

Oh, no, asking Saudis (and other nutcases) in is the best way to defang them and rearrange their thinking. One of my Saudi friends has two undle who have lived in the US for twenty years. They love it. They probably wrap themselves in the American flag at night. They made their money running a restaurant. An Italian restaurant.
