Jerusalem – Plans for Pesach demonstrations have likely been cancelled after Haredi yeshiva student and IDF draft evader Eliyahu Cohen was released on Sunday from a military jail thanks in large part to an intervention by Zionist Rabbi Haim Druckman.

ISRAELNATIONALNEWS.com (http://bit.ly/1iIj3VT) Rabbi Druckman began talks with the IDF’s Personnel Dept. after several Haredi MKs had been unsuccessful in securing Cohen’s release before the Pesach Seder.

MKs Meir Porush and Yaakov Litzman from United Torah Judaism, as well as Shas chairman, MK Aryeh Deri, all took part in the negotiations.

During the process, MK Porsuh was critical of Police Commissioner Major General Yohanan Danino for trying to pass off the issue as a strictly military police matter.

Porsu said, “The result of the arrests will be events that are not under the aegis of the military courts when the state finds itself in a whirlwind of riots and protests, so that in the end, it will be the civilian police that have to intervene for the sake of the public peace.”

I think from now on I’m going to refer to people in the IDF as “Torah evaders”.

Please let us not ignore the ahavas yisroel exhibited by HaRav Drukman. Let us not forget that although one might not follow his psak/psakim, HaRav Drukman is from the ZIKNEY Roshei HaYeshiva and Rabbanim of a sizable segment of Torah society. As such when you reference him, it is appropriate to refer to him with kavod. Yes, HaRav Drukman is a proud religious Zionist, but he is more than that. I personally know former Talmidim of his who are MEKADESH SHEM SHAMAYIM and M’CHABDEY Torah every single day. If he could rise above the lack of kavod exhibited to him and act on behalf of this bachur, perhaps we should take a moment to pause and think about how we reference Rabbonim even if they are not our Rav. Many Roshei Yeshiva of hesder yeshivos have voiced the need to partner with all Roshei Yeshivos and Rebbes because they feel that it is kavod haTorah and shimras hamitzvos that we all have to safeguard. Please – a little bit of kavod HaTorah…

Heartless animals!! Now they showed that they really have no backbone.

Seriously, were they going to keep him incarcerated over Pesach? What can you expect from a bunch of self-haters.

Alterg – maybe you should read what the askanim in Ashdod said! They called for the violent protests to stop. They said that it is ruining things for them.

    Well said.
These cassidim better enjoy Yom Tov because they’ll be doing a lot of demonstrating afterwards.
We need to collect funds so we can send ALTERG there to organize all the tire burning. I’m in for the first $10.00. Who else is in?
