The Queens district attorney’s office says 69-year-old Rodolfo Sanchez, of Queens, was arraigned Thursday on grand larceny, theft of services and criminal possession of stolen property charges.

Prosecutors say Sanchez crossed the bridge more than 3,000 times between 2012 and 2014 by tailgating vehicles as they went through the tolls, thus allowing both vehicles to pass through before the barrier came down.

Prosecutors say Sanchez told investigators he was doing it because he needed money for his family. A telephone call to his lawyer was not immediately returned.

Sanchez faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.

It’s the wrong thing to do, but I don’t blame him. The price of tolls is ridiculous.
