Washingtonville, NY – Concepts for a casino and hotel resort in Orange County received approval by the Blooming Grove and South Blooming Grove boards Thursday night.

Record Online (http://bit.ly/1i23s2d) reports two developers pitched their ideas for the casino/hotel Thursday night in a presentation given to approximately 200 residents at the Washingtonville High School.
Cordish Cos. and Penn National Gaming Inc. described the plans for a $750 million investment that would provide 3,000 jobs in construction and 3,000 jobs at the casino itself.
The Village Board approved the project with a vote of 5-0. The Town Board was 4-1.
Proponents of casino say the new development will bring much-needed employment and financial growth to the area.
Applications, along with proof of local support, are due June 30 from developers.

They won’t get any of the jobs because a) you need to speak English and b) you need to be able to talk with the opposite sex. They don’t do either.
I do not understand why casino operators think this will be a financial success. There are already casinos close to NYC. Mount pocono in the poconos is one. There is more to do in the poconos with existing hotels and fun local destinations (skiing in winter,summer waterparks). Why would someone go to monticelo over poconos? Its not like the locals have deep wallets. Personally I think these casinos will flop. (Pun intended)
