FILE - Ultra Orthodox Jewish men of anti zionists Neturei Karta who are opposed of the establishment and retain all opposition to the existence of the State of Israel, protest by keep walking the streets of Mea Shearim when the rest of Israel stands still while a two-minute siren is sounded across Israel to mark Memorial Day, on April 15, 2013. Maariv (http://bit.ly/1i8P90B) reports that the editorial entitled “Do not fall into the hand of the hostile media,” asks Haredis, especially those who will be in public, to “stand at attention in memory of the fallen” when the siren blows Sunday night and Monday.

The op-ed goes to say that the media has used the occasion in the past to try to place itself in largely ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods so that it can take photos of Haredis not observing the siren.

The editors state, “The media made them a regular custom in recent years to arrive at haredi areas during the siren and locate and photograph those who looked like ultra-Orthodox continuing to go about their business when the siren sounds.”

The editors say further that, “The media then uses the photos to paint an unjust portrayal of Haredis.”

“But the truth is completely different,” say the editors. “With these pictures they fulfill their quota of daily incitement and bring blasphemy to not only those injured and their bereaved families, but to Haredis as well by depicting them as not caring.”

The op-ed goes onto to ask that Haredis who are in public satnd for 60 seconds in observance of the siren, and for those who do not like the idea to remain at home or indoors when the siren is sounded.

Finally, some common sense, for a change!

It’s highly uncommon for extremists, to use the head and choose their battles INTELLIGENTLY, for a change.

Not every battle is worth fighting and besides you can win that battle but loose the war, unless of course if you choose to use your head, for a change.

Acting like a jerk in public is not a very intelligent way to fight the secularists.

Yes, secularists deserve to be fought, it it must be done intelligently and not in a manner which will be used by the emdia to blacken our public image.

The Israeli Zionist make a very nice show they stand and respect etc. but they mock their own fallen. Where in the world do you find an organized mafia that tells parents and loved ones “here is buried your son” and it’s a pure lie. I just read it here on VIN. This happened to a nonobservant typical Israeli family. And it isn’t the first time.

Ya gotta love these guys. But I guess מתוך שלא לשמה בא לשמה.

I remember in January 2011 when Police Officer Matlosz was killed in Lakewood, the entire Yeshiva velt stood in silence lining the streets as the motorcade drove by with Amazing Grace playing in the background. I’m sure whatever good reason their leaders concocted to be מבטל תורה and show honor for the fallen officer can be extended to Yiddish soliders protecting לומדי תורה in Eretz Yisroel.
I know they have this theory that standing in silence is not the Torah way to honor a fallen solider. But I don’t think burning garbage cans and dumpsters, throwing rocks at police or anti-Israel demonstrations in Manhattan, is the Torah way to protest either.

Don’t think for a minute that the Hamodia and its loyal readers who are against the draft are not Zionist they are far more pro Israel then the secular Israeli society.

Anti Zionist/Israel Jews always knew that the frum Zionist are as the saying goes holier then the pope and here you got proof.

This is the bottom line. If you don’t like the state of Israel, get out of there! No one is forcing you to live there and living there is not a right but a privilege. feel free to move to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey or any other Jew-Loving state.

It is high time for a little common sense and respect! These soldiers fought for you and for your freedom and gave their lives so your kids can walk the streets of Jerusalem safely.

Enough with the attitude and enough with the free loading. Shape up or ship out! It wont be long before the Jews will find themselves in an other 1939 situation and you will be able to blame the “Frum”ones for starting it. You can hate on me from now till forever, but the fact is we are one of the most unappreciated and Full-of-Attitude type of people that want everything for free and are proud of it.

    It id disgusting!

I was liberated in Buchenwald on 4/11/1945 after I was deported on 10/231941 to Lodz Ghetto Lizmannstadt. I saw Jews being shot and hanged, lost my parents and suffered physical da,mages. The attitude displayed on this website show ignorance, apathy and lack of understanding . Unfortunately many of you and Israelis have no scruple to “shlep”maony from the Germans and enjoy the benefits of the “holocaust”, yes you did not smell the stench from the crematoria but I did and unless you been there you have no idea.I lived in Italy and saw more empathy and some of you display. My father learned with me pirke avoth and there is a posuk “al todin eyz chavero ad shetigiah limkomo”

What a shandeh that the chareidim didn’t take a moment of silence for DEAD JEWS all these years! When one of them dies, the streets are filled with shtreimels, black hats and so forth, but for a fallen FELLOW (NON-CHAREIDI) JEW – nothing?

Glad they’re finally seeing the light.
Maybe, just maybe, the next step for them is to FIGHT FOR THEIR COUNTRY !
Moshe, Yehoshua, David, Rabbi Akiva all fought, when they had to. And still managed to learn.

    Wake up, chareidim !
There is a STATE FOR THE JEWS now ! Live with it ! Embrace it ! Love it !
Enough of the shtetel mentality !

shameful article only do it so the media will not attack you, not because you should have respect for the people who dies protecting you.

Even it one thinks that this is not the frum way to honer the dead there is nothing wrong with standing still for a minute or two if the country decided to honer its fallen solders that way.

    To ALTERG

and how many light a candle for the fallen solders? How many Yeshivas learn a peirek misneiyos instead? And even so, there is still no reason why not to stand still.

I am sooooo tired of Haredi sheep needing to read what to do in their newspapers. If they have Yiddishe kopfs they should use them, and honor Jewish dead who fell so they can daven.

you don’t really need brains for this:

If you are learning Torah in the Beis Medresh, keep on learning. Learning Torah or doing a Mitzvah is not overshadowed by standing.

If you are out in the street with non religious people stand still and have the respect for the fallen soldiers and don’t make a chillul HaShem.

If you are in your own home, do what you want.
