Brooklyn, NY - Bloomberg To Visit Crown Heights Today At The 71st Pct. Annual Community Parade |
|
At 12:00 p.m. today, Bloomberg will be arriving in Crown Heights, accompanied by NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, administration officials and a phalanx of local media. The mayor will be attending the 71st Precinct’s annual community parade and picnic, coming this year on the heels of a spike in violent crime, according to residents. A black man’s beating at a Lubavitcher’s hands was followed by an attack on a Lubavitcher teen by two blacks.
Dr. Tzvi (Harvey) Lang, Vice Chairman of the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, asked to publicize the following notice: “There will be a lot of media present, and it’s important to show a giant presence at the event. Let’s make a Kiddush Hashem!”
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the traditional parade down Empire Blvd., followed by the community picnic at Hamilton Metz Park
at Albany and East New York Aves., comprising children’s rides, a magic show, horse rides, and free kosher food.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a Bloomberg official said that “the mayor will be coming because he cares and he wants to show up. There’s been a lot accomplished with meetings between city officials and police with regards to what’s happening in the neighborhood.”

Oooh, I can't wait! Another excuse to block off the streets so we can't get in or out.
If it wasn't for the Israel Day Parade I'd have prayed for yesterday's storms.
