Brooklyn, NY – An NYPD deputy chief was hit with internal charges for allegedly buying human growth hormone ata Brooklyn pharmacy raided in a steroid sting last year.

Deputy Chief Michael Marino’s name was among 27 NYPD customers discovered after investigators seized records and $8 million worth of steroids and HGH from Lowen’s Compounding Pharmacy in Bay Ridge in October.
After his name surfaced, Marino took and passed a drug test and initially was cleared by top brass, a move the president of the PBA said smacked of favoritism.
An ongoing investigation, however, found Marino had been issued a prescription for HGH even though it wasn’t medically necessary, sources said.
Marino, executive officer of patrol borough Brooklyn North, was charged with conduct prejudicial to the department for possession and use of steroids and/or HGH outside standard medical care.
this may sound stupid but perhaps we should allow cops to use steroids.what would be wrong with cops who are bigger and stronger and more able to catch the bad guys.
all they do is give tickets to hard working people that is 90 percent of their job and then they lie in court they are the bad guys
To Moshe: It appears that you may be unaware of the harmful side effects of taking steroids. They include paranoid jealousy, extreme irritability, delusions, and impaired judgment stemming from feelings of invincibility. Would you really want someone who may be suffering from any or all of those symptoms to carry a gun and have the authority of a police officer?
It is a well know fact that a large portion of police officers juice themselves up with steroids. Many of the same people who have ego and machosmo issues that lead them to abuse steroids choose to pursue a career in the Macho police department.
This guy was just unlucky enough to get caught.
90% of the police officers that serve NY are honorable people. Get rid of the 10% that gives a bad name to the 90% of the good ones!
As long as Ray Kelly is police commissioner you will have higher crime, and more corruption within the police department.

Steroid abuse is a major problem, but apparently Dep. Chief Marino tested negative for steroids. He is charged with buying human growth hormone (HGH). I personally don’t think this is as bad as steroid abuse, but of course as an officer he should not be taking any drup unless medically necessary.
