Krakow, Poland – Krakow’s new Chief Rabbi is coming under fire after a June 9 interview in which he issued a blanket statement saying that all non-Jews dislike Jews.

JTA (http://bit.ly/1q0QOrz) reports that during the interview Rabbi Eliezer Gurary said, “Let’s state it very clearly: those who are not a Jew – do not like Jews. Everyone understands and knows it.”
Since Gurary’s statement, rabbis from both Poland’s religious and lay Jewish communities have served up a hefty dose of criticism, including six rabbis from the Association of Rabbis and five Polish Jewish lay rabbis who released a statement saying Gurary “essentially painted all non-Jews as anti-Semites.”
The Association of Rabbis wrote, “We are hoping that Rabbi Gurary will withdraw his harmful declaration. The generalization that Gurary made is simply not true. We are fighting prejudice and we are working on good relations with our countrymen regardless of their religion or ethnicity.”
Amid mounting backlash, Gurary has back-peddled and denied even making the statement, saying instead that he was “misquoted” and is now the target of a “a vicious and lowly blood libel.”
This is actually a projection of how he feels about all non-Jews. He doesn’t like any of them.
truth hurts
Correction: All POLISH goyim hate Jews – the hatred is bred into their Polish DNA.
Would be surprised if he actually said that…..someone should verify.
If he said “a great number” or even “most” he might have had a point. But there have always been individual chasidei umos haolam, even in countries like Poland (irena sendler).
Truth be told, if the issue is mere “liking” – most frum Jews do not LIKE non-Jews either.
How stupid even if true! Not everything that is true needs to be said no matter how true you think it is. When you see a fat person in the street do you really think it’s appropriate to walk over and say, “Hello fatso!”?
Unfortunately too many people who have the pulpit think of it as a license to say whatever comes to mind.
“יפה שתיקה לחכמים קל וחומר לטפשים”
The expression עשו שונא ליעקב which רש”י cites from various מדרשים, refers only to עשו himself, and not to all non Jews. See this in תנחומא שמות כ”ז as well as in the מדרש תהילים כ”ה י”ד among others, which clearly speak solely of עשו, and no one else. It is quite regrettable that all too many pseudo תלמידי חכמים misinterpret this מאמר חז”ל for their own twisted pathological hatred of anyone not Jewish. This חסיד in Poland not only displays his ignorance, he displays his intolerance as well. And, if such an irresponsible statement was accurate, how could one resolve the concept of צדיקי אומות העולם?
what a stupid statement to say? must be israeli trained resign….your rebbe wouldn’t be proud of your stupid statement.
Why is he even in Poland? I thought the Lubavitcher Rebbe in his lifetime forbade Shlichim to go to Poland, what changed?
“אמר ר’ שמעון בן יוחאי: הלכה היא בידוע שעשו שונא ליעקב” מתוך פירוש רש”י לספר בראשית, פרק ל”ג, פסוק ד’

Right bc soooo many Gentiles saved the 6 million Jews including 1 million children while they were gassed and burned in Europe.
I wrote: All POLISH goyim hate Jews – the hatred is bred into their Polish DNA.
The comments who question this from the “chasidei umos haolom” which saved a few Jews – they are bottel b’shishim or more accurately, bottel b’elef!
The odd exception does not change the rule. That is simple common sense.
there are more polish people honored in the yad vashem section for righteous gentiles who risked their lives to protect jews from the nazis than all other european countries combined.
yes, there is anti-semitism in poland, just as there is everywhere else. But its not fair to accuse all polish people of wronging us, because many polish people did their best to help us.
the polish army fought the nazis. yes, they were defeated in less than a month but they fought bravely and died trying to defend their country, unlike some other countries that welcomed the nazis in and volunteered to help the nazis kill jews.
A few years ago, Lech Walesa was quoted as stating that : “Anti-Semitism by Poles comes from their mother’s milk”. Therefore, why is it when he said that, it was no big deal, and is only a big deal when a Rabbi states something similar?
polish hated of jews is well know, pogrom were around for years before WW2, but u dont have to say what is on ur mind.
PS 17 the rebbeh is still alive lol
It’s amazing how everyone is lashing out at this rabbi. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan and plenty of other average African American people say this type of thing about ALL white people on a daily basis, but that’s OK…
Only when a Jew says something about a non-Jew is there this kind of outrage.
I can’t believe that there are yidden that would JUSTIFY this nonsense.
No, wait a second. He is a lubavitch so that his actions are not only ignored, they are encouraged.
