Ezras Nashim’s much ballyhooed launch on Tuesday follows years of grit and determination by the group’s founder Rachel Freier, who says that it was all worth it as the group’s 40 certified female EMTs begin offering their services to Orthodox women in Borough Park.
“We’re juggling jobs, children, housework, holidays…we can do everything except become EMTs? C’mon guys, there’s something wrong here,” Freier said on the eve of Ezras Nashim’s launch.
Freier said that the group’s long range plans included branching out to other towns and cities and even Israel.
Watch below Fox 5:
It’s unfortunate they had to make arrangements with a private ambulance service when an ambulance is needed.
Religious politics prevented them from partnering with Hatzalah.
If they prove successful enough, maybe they will eventually be able to use hatzalah when needed. (Miracles do happen.)
Hatzlacha rabba!
Amazing keep up the great work
Hatzlacha
Beautiful. They should be matzliach in their new endeavor!
The car is not adequately lit with enough warning lights.
40 women, many of whom don’t drive will be responding with 1 fly car to an area of over 200 blocks.
Can someone explain to me how this is going to work?
3 questions about the contracted service:
Will they be stationed in BP?
Will they only have women?
Who get$ the money when they bill the woman’s insurance? (yes pvt ambulance services will bill you they aren’t doing this for tzedaka)
Good Luck.
OK, so let’s understand this: A little car, NO L&S, NO “VAS” plates, NO “doh” sticker, Can’t really get anywhere fast – but the baby is coming!! Now what? And how far is the private ambulance? They don’t just sit around all day waiting for a call in a specific territory, ya know??
What was wrong with the old system? How many thousands of babies has Hatzolah delivered already over the years? How many people truly complained that there were modesty issues??
Leaves one scratching his head….
Many women do feel uncomfortable having men who are not their doctor there upon their delivery.
What could possibly be wrong with women helping women give birth?
Is it brought down anywhere that only a man can rush to help a woman in middle of the night
#8 Many women live in dire fear of going into labor at home and having half their husband’s chabura or business partners bursting through the door to assist them.
Kol Kvuda Bas Melech Pnima. How beautiful it is that in a moment of pain a woman is concerned for her Tznius. Mi Kiamcha Yisroel.
I bet most woman emergencies will still be treated by hatzalah. No one in a true emergency will wait around for these girls.
YAY u go girls!!! hatzlacha rabbah.. may u be part of lots of simchas
I love the bumper protector they have on the back of the car.
Hatzlacha rabah.
Is that called Tzenues? When you see the White car arriving to Mrs. Kleins house bunch of lady’s running in with EMT kits. The entire block will now know that Mrs. Klein is having a Baby at home…. maybe for that couple of moments Mrs. Klein Will feel comfortable seeing ladys around her ?but who cares in these desperate painful moments who’s surrounding you? The women delivering rather wants to know she has professionals around her making sure its all smooth and safe
The 40 EMT’s have no medical experience in the field unlike a Hatzalah Member who’s observing for a period of time to get the field experience.
if I’m not mistaking in NYS its required by law to have a peramedic present at a OB call.
If they gonna need emergency transfer how soon will the private company respond? 911 system style? 10-15 min.? Will they call Hatzalah for the safety of the patient ? Then wants the whole point
Im confused, I hope Mrs. Frier has it planed out
Why did they film the news report right around the corner from hatzalah garage on 52nd and 16th ave? Coinsedence ?
Lol. (Thats all I can think of)
What is their Emergency Hotline Telephone Number? Would like to post it on my fridge.
2 questions:
1) when she is giving the baby supper , or a bath, will she drop everything and run out to save a person’s life.
2)when she gets a call at 3 am , will she put on makeup and a sheitel, before running out?
Open orthodoxy?
To all sour Hatzalah members:
Please sign in with your true identification.
To everyone else, thanks for your support.
They made a mistake in the spelling of that organization. It should read: Ezrat Nashim. That’s the correct Hebrew prononciation.
Lets see.
“Exactly, what is their experience?”
when you call hatzalah do you ask for an experienced emt or do you say, send someone quick? why do you doubt their certification, they are certified by the same state agency.
“Ezras Noshim is correct for any normative yid.”
so, a sefardi is not a “normative yid”?
“1) when she is giving the baby supper , or a bath, will she drop everything and run out to save a person’s life.”
So, only someone who is sitting and learning, runs a business or has nothing better to do with themselves is allowed to dedicate their time to something?
“2)when she gets a call at 3 am , will she put on makeup and a sheitel, before running out?”
What are you, 7 years old?
“if I’m not mistaking in NYS its required by law to have a peramedic present at a OB call”
Plenty of female OBs in BP who could be present at such a call.
#12 perhaps wheels to lease donated the vehicle
