Borough Park, Brooklyn, NY - An alleged perpetrator driving a car-service, who is being accused of attmped sexual assault in the Boro Park section of Brooklyn, has just been stopped on 18th Avenue and Ocean Parkway by Borough Park Shomrim Patrol after a vehicle pursuit. NYPD of the 66th Pct are responding to the above location.

Yes, they are. By law they are considered a civil patrol which can stop and detain until law enforcement arrives.

I would recommend that shomrim should have a way to get emails and Text Messages. So when someone cannot talk or call by phone. they can Text or email for help in silent.
And it should be advertized the Email or Text Number

recent story:
a girl (gentile) was home alone and theives started robbing the home, so she hid under the bed and sended a txt to her mom: "OMG we R being robbed"
and a few minutes later the police arrived and arrested them!
so its a good idea about setting up a email & number

This was Brooklyn Car Service from Wmsbg. The girl called shomrim while still in the car and left the phone on. The operator heard how she kept on telling him to stop, and how he answered that he doesn't care. It is all on tape.
What however is more disgusting is the attitude of the police officers that responded first to the scene. They were ready to let the guy go, and arrest a shomrim member for assault. It is only after clearer minds from those above that intervened, was the right thing done. The community needs to make it clear to PD that we wholeheartedly support the Shomrim.

I think people are not so clear with hilchus yichud! It is completeley mutur to take a car service,(which has widows) during the day, in a busy neighborhood! On her part she didnt do anything wrong! but yes, i agree, it is a really sick world and poeple must be extra careful!
