NYPOST.com (http://bit.ly/1tuno6m) reports that the close to 1,500 dismissals stem from cases in which cabs were illegally seized by TLC agents working under increasing pressure from agency bosses to meet high quotas.

Sources say that due to the increasing number of rogue seizures by the agency, some taxi and limousine service drivers have ceased doing business inside the city.

In one case, New Jersey’s Broadway Elite Chauffeured Services Worldwide had eight of its luxury limos illegally seized by TLC agents after dropping off passengers at a Staten Island fundraiser in Manhattan.

A spokesman for TLC, Allan Fromberg, said only that the majority of the agency’s cases are prosecuted in coordination with the written violation.

Why don’t they go after the illegal “dollar vans” on Flatbush Avenue?

The TLC seisures are daylight robbery. They seize your car, and you have two options. Either pay $800 and your done with it, or fight it in court, but for a few weeks you don’t get back your car. So a car rental would cost you at least $800.

    What would you choose.
