NBCNEWYORK.com (http://bit.ly/UuSv5f) reports that the video of incident, which took place on July 14 inside the 125th Street subway station on Lexington Avenue, shows an NYPD officer drop to his knees and place 23 year-old Ronald Johns in a chokehold before punching him twice in the head during the handcuffing process.

The video’s source, Rev. Kelmy Rodriquez, said he released the video after receiving it anonymously in the mail.

The video comes just a week after 43 year-old Eric Garner died as a result of another alleged chokehold incident by the NYPD in Staten Island, which has prompted New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton to promise full-scale retraining of the city’s police force.

Reps for the NYPD said its internal affairs bureau is looking into the video.

So ridiculous, When a punk resists arrest what’s an officer to do? Lie down and play dead?

if our Liberal Mayor wants to ruin our City. he should take away all rights from the NYPD and give the low lifes a free zone in NYC.
why are all these problems with Police recently so much up? because they have no way to get the Criminals off the streets.
Bring Back the “Stop and Frisk” into law, you would’nt need any chokehold. As the criminals will hide in the mice caves.

To #1 - There are non ways to overcome a defendant’s resistance, such as various combative techniques, which don’t involve utilizing the choke hold. A properly trained law enforcement officer should not have to use a choke hold, in order to overcome and arrest a suspect.

TO 3,4 & 5. Have you ever been in a fight? If yes do you follow rules? When a punk starts fighting back you get into survival mode and do what you need to do NO MATTER how insignificant you think that crime may be.
You sound like all those idiot’s telling Israel to “Exercise Restraint”

If you are being arrested, don’t resist, or you may die. End of story.

according to US DoJ figures, 500 innocent people are murdered by US Law Enforcement Officers every year.
The police then claim that he victim attacked them, or that they thought he was about to attack them. They are rarely disciplined.
