Post foreign editor Douglas Jehl said Thursday that the newspaper has received credible reports that Jason Rezaian, his Iranian wife and two freelance photojournalists were detained Tuesday evening in Tehran.
The newspaper says 38-year-old Rezaian holds both American and Iranian citizenship. His wife, Yeganeh Salehi, an Iranian citizen who has applied for U.S. permanent residency, works as a correspondent for a newspaper based in the United Arab Emirates. The two other Americans, who work with them as freelance journalists, have not been identified.
State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf says the department is aware of the report, but cannot comment further due to privacy issues.
But we’re the evil regime. Right Khameini?
how many Gitmo TERRORISTS are gonna be exchanged for them by OhBama
What’s with these double citizenships? Half-America, half-Iranian? Who are you kidding? He is not an American at all. There was a time not long ago when, to be an American, meant you renounce all your allegiances to all other nations, governments and sovereigns. We should have never become relaxed about that wonderful law and should go back to enforcing it. Want to passports? Get them from countries who don’t stand for anything, France and Sweden for example. Not ours.
