Manhattan, NY - FDR Drive Closed Due To Haz-Mat Spill

Manhattan, NY - The southbound lanes of the FDR drive are closed at 96th Street due to a tractor trailer that was carrying train batteries and struck and is wedged under the Gracey Mansion tunnel at East 86th Street, report that battery fluid is leaking.

NYPD ESU, FDNY Haz-Mat-1 and Purple K units are all responding to the scene. DOT also responding.

Traffic is backed up all the way to the Harlem River Drive at East 152nd Street.

I don't understand, trucks aren't supposed to be on the Harlem River Drive (FDR) at all? And again these trucks come there all the time, they strike that low underpass frequently (I wonder how that underpass is still on its place with so many accidents...) Why can't they make proper signs or put some police there to watch that trucks shouldn't be there? Also, fine those truck drivers with heavy fines, so everyone will know that its no game here.

I always love watching those trucks rip their roofs off after slamming into the elevated subway tracks in flatbush. Im surprised the Ave J Q station is still holding up.
