Francis cited current warfare between Israelis and Palestinians, as well as in Iraq and in Ukraine. He told pilgrims and tourists in St. Peter’s Square Sunday that he was thinking of children — killed, maimed or orphaned by war — who “for toys, have the debris of war.”

“I beg you, stop. I ask you with all my heart,” Francis said.

He cited World War I-era Pope Benedict XV’s denunciation of the Great War as a “useless massacre.”

Francis said: “Everything is lost with war, nothing is lost with peace. Never more war.”

WW I brought WWII which resulted in the worst barbarism ever created by human creatures. We still suffer from WWII and after WII fine Aryan war criminals escaped via Rome and during WWII an Arab , mufti , war criminal from the Husseini family in Jerusalem Haj Amin el Husseini friend of Eichmann and decorated by organized a Muslim SS brigade. Now we continue the killing with the help of rich Arabs who enjoy murder

Why do we have to post the comments of this pope?
Is he some kind of a choshuve rosh yeshiva that we should listen to?
Or he is head of avoda zora?

Last time I check the list of the good mosdos, the Vatican was not on that list!

It’s nice to talk peace and dialog instead of war, but what option is really available when dialog accomplishes nothing. This is classic preaching to the pews. It sounds noble, but means very little.

Besides, when was the last time emissaries of the Vatican even offered to help resolve any of the conflicts one reads about in the news? Would any of the warring parties accept their input if they did?

I agree with him. War stinks.

But why tell that too both sides? Did Israel start this war by firing on innocent civilians? No!

The implication is that both sides are being “bad” and not learning from past wars that war is bad.

That is comparing hamas terrorists firing on civilians (=bad) with Israel RESPONSE to defend it’s civilians!

    The world is insane.

He should have called on Hamas to learn from ww1 and stop the war.

They started firing on another country and they also have the aability to put an end to the Palestinian death toll by GIVING UP.

What a Chutzpah for him to equate both sides in his mussar shmooze!
