NYPOST.com (http://bit.ly/UvvbEF) reports the World Trade Center Health Program at Mount Sinai documents 1,655 cases among the 37,000 individuals it is currently monitoring, while the FDNY affiliated 9/11-related health program adds in another 863.

Included among the numbers are police officers, firefighters, EMTs, first responders, hard hats, sanitation workers, city workers and volunteers, at least 17 downtown residents and five visitors.

Records show that the federal 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) has received 1,145 claims as of June 30, with 881 to date qualifying as eligible, while the rest remain under review.

To date, 115 victims have split $50.5M in payouts by the VCF.

According to WTC epidemiologists, studies now show that 9/11-related workers are getting certain cancers, namely prostate, thyroid, leukemia, and multiple myeloma at much higher rates than the general public.
