The President underscored the United States’ strong condemnation of Hamas’ rocket and tunnel attacks against Israel and reaffirmed Israel’s right to defend itself.

The President also reiterated the United States’ serious and growing concern about the rising number of Palestinian civilian deaths and the loss of Israeli lives, as well as the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Building on Secretary Kerry’s efforts, the President made clear the strategic imperative of instituting an immediate, unconditional humanitarian ceasefire that ends hostilities now and leads to a permanent cessation of hostilities based on the November 2012 ceasefire agreement.

The President reaffirmed the United States’ support for Egypt’s initiative, as well as regional and international coordination to end hostilities.

The President underscored the enduring importance of ensuring Israel’s security, protecting civilians, alleviating Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, and enacting a sustainable ceasefire that both allows Palestinians in Gaza to lead normal lives and addresses Gaza’s long-term development and economic needs, while strengthening the Palestinian Authority.

The President stressed the U.S. view that, ultimately, any lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict must ensure the disarmament of terrorist groups and the demilitarization of Gaza.

What Obama means is unconditional surrender. What an outrage.

Wow. How he can say unconditional ceasefire and Israel’s right to protect itself without being called out as contradictory is beyond me. Don’t we see the danger in electing liberals??? In radicals???

” addresses Gaza’s long-term development and economic needs”. Gaza received tons of money in the past years but most of their water is undrinkable and a lot of their residents don’t have running water. So how does Hamans, I mean Hamas, have money to make the tunnels? 1 Hamas terror tunnel = enough building materials for 19 medical clinics.

can somebody please stop this Sunday press conference madness, this guy is not doing anything for new York

Schumer’s patented move of holding a Sunday press conference in order to glom Monday morning headlines has become a long-running joke in Washington, and yet the media continue to cover every one of his self-serving events. Frankly, starting the week by opening up the daily newspaper only to see Chuck’s mug has become tiresome and insulting. Rarely, if ever, do these photo opportunities translate into anything tangible. Don’t get me wrong, there is frequently a bill or resolution spawned from Chuck’s press conference of the week, but most are dead on arrival with a pitiful few ever being referred to committee

What a joke–Obama supports Israel’s right to defend itself, but at the same time demands an immediate and unconditional cease-fire on the part of Israel! I support Obama’s right to voice this demand, but at the same time, I’d like him to be impeached for it.

Three cheers for N.Obama Esq. The only question is who has his head buried deeper in the sand, N. Obama Esq. or Wanky Moon. Hasn’t Obama heard that Hamas has said that they will not demilitarize? Does he think that they mean “will not demilitarize” the same way as they mean “abide by a humanitarian respite”, i.e. do the exact opposite. Doesn’t he understand that the Arab operates according to a different set of rules from the civilized world? The Hamas charter says it very clearly in Paragraph 13: “There is no solution to the Palestinian problem except by jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are a waste of time and a farce.” What is Obama suggesting other than an initiative, a proposal or an international conference? Hamas are terrorists not gentlemen you can sit down with on the White House Lawn. Now if he agrees to join them in a jihad against the Jews, he may just find that is a proposal for an initiative, if backed by an international conference, that he and Wanky Moon can persuade the Hamas to consider, providing of course that the USA pays for the jihad.

He called for an immediate ceasefire. Not a UNILATERAL ceasefire.

Why is he speaking to the Israeli PM? It’s Hamas he needs to address. Hamas is the instigator, the rabble rouser, the hoodlum and murderer. What does Obama expect the Israelis to do? To sit it out and take it and not fight back? What world is our president living in?

Obama is simply interested in defending his brethren, the Muslim people. He could not care a hoot about Israel’s security. His strategy is to push and pressure BiBi because he knows Hamas will never give in, so his only route is thru BiBi. First he gets a temporary ceasefire out of Bibi, then his plan is to make it permanent, with BibI securing nothing and Hamas getting all their demands met. It’s been proven by the number of times Isreal gave in to obama/Kerry/moon’s ceasefire demands while Hamas never did. Bibi is appearing weak and while he thinks this will gain him world approval, in reality it only makes them lose respect for him and allows them to push him harder for more and more concessions (termed “goodwill gestures”), while the terrorists are not expected or asked to concede on anything. Obama is a nightmare if a president, not only with regard to his bias against Israel, but also his do esti’s policies which have ruined our country. I hope the Republicans are successful in their attempt to impeach him, but I don’t hold my breath because anyone going up against Obama will forever be disingenuously accused of racism,

What he meant to say was:

he suggested that you focus only on property damage.

    Read below:

Qatar recently cemented an enormous weapons deal with the United States. But this week, the tiny, resource-rich Gulf kingdom with outsized geopolitical ambitions — and a seemingly bottomless pocketbook — might be setting itself up for more problematic relations with the U.S.

Last week, Qatar closed the largest sale of American weaponry so far this year, purchasing $11 billion worth of Patriot missile batteries and Apache attack helicopters. The sale revealed that Qatar hasn’t exactly been lacking in strategic daring in the wake of its failed bet on Muslim Brotherhood-linked political movements throughout the Middle East, and its subsequent fallout in diplomatic relations with neighboring Gulf monarchies.

But the Gaza-Hamas conflagration casts a problematic light on the Qataris, who have been one of Hamas’s most reliable international partners.
