    Rwanda, the current council president, announced agreement Sunday on a presidential statement which also calls on the parties “to engage in efforts to achieve a durable and fully respected cease-fire, based on the Egyptian initiative.”

    The council will meet as Muslims celebrate the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

    The presidential statement, obtained by The Associated Press, says the humanitarian cease-fire would allow for the delivery of urgently needed assistance. It urges Israel and Hamas “to accept and fully implement the humanitarian cease-fire into the Eid period and beyond.”

    Hey brilliant;
    Hamas rejected the Egyptian proposal 2 weeks ago – had the accepted there would have been a lot less destruction and death.
    Can’t pull a rewind here.
    The UN is a bunch of blow heads.

    Here’s a thought : Hamas should “give up” and then there will be a ceasefire and no more Palestinian deaths.

    The thing about starting a WAR with someone stronger than you is…. If you lose…. You lose! You need to wave a white flag…. Give up your weapons…. Or…. Die.

    That’s why I hate war…. Those are the rules.

    Someone should have reviewed the rules with them before they started the war by attacking another country.

    But, as bad as this is for them, it beats what would happen to Israel or America if ch”v they would win. They would kill every man woman and child even after we gave up.

    So they have a good deal in front of them. Give up and don’t die.

    Reply to 2. Yes Israel must always give yet a little more and a little more if they want real lasting peace. And so they give and give. But war rages on. If I were you I’d go back in your closet and let Israel handle her own future. She’s been doing a good job until now
