Jerusalem – The Israeli military says Gaza militants have infiltrated into Israel through a tunnel under the Gaza-Israel border and have opened fire on soldiers.

Monday’s army announcement said searches for the militants were underway. It did not elaborate.
Israeli media reported that five of the militants were apparently killed in a firefight.
A network of border tunnels dug by Hamas in recent years has been a focus of Israel’s three-week military operation in Gaza. Israel says it has demolished close to 20 tunnels, but is searching for more.
