But the mayor told a news conference at City Hall on Monday that the spate of violence that took two lives does not reflect New York’s general crime trend.

De Blasio noted that crime in general is down about 3 percent so far this year compared to 2013. And there were 26 fewer murders this year.

However, shootings are up by 12 percent. Two young men died Sunday in upper Manhattan after a gunman got out of his car and opened fire.

The mayor says Police Commissioner William Bratton is making sure that wherever there’s an uptick in shootings, additional police forces move in quickly.

No, it reflects a full moon.
No, it reflects that your policies already are setting the city backward by two decades.
No, it reflects that you speak and smile nice, but are incompetent.
No, it reflects that you will probably as damaging to NY as Obama’s presidency is to America.

It relects the end of “stop and frisk”. Maybe the Mayor’s son should be stopped, but the fear of being stopped and frisked and sentenced to a mandatory jail sentence did a lot to keep guns off the street. Back in the day of stop and frisk I didn’t carry when going to a late Maariv minyon.
