The dinner, about a mile away from the White House in the Logan Circle neighborhood, also included Anita Decker Breckenridge, Obama’s deputy chief of staff. The president had returned to Washington just after midnight Monday in a break from his summer vacation on Martha’s Vineyard.

Obama went to the dinner shortly after a news conference in which he spoke about events in Iraq and the violence in in Ferguson, Missouri, following the fatal shooting of an unarmed black man.

The White House did not provide further details of the dinner.

Kass, a Chicago native, joined the White House kitchen staff in 2009.

Kass is an amazing guy. He is a former NCAA baseball player, European trained chef and now a advocate for healthy eating. He spends an enormous amount of his own time working in poor neighborhoods to encourage gardening and healthy foods. He has helped to get major food chains to offer higher quality produce in poor neighborhoods. All this and he is one of the most modest and humble guys in D.C. where big egos proliferate.

I doubt that the diet that does what Barack really needs, grow a pair, really exists.
