As previously reported on VIN News, eight houses have been burglarized since June 23rd. Police estimate that the same person is responsible for all eight incidents and has made off with $250,000 in valuables.

While earlier reports indicated that the robber had stolen just silverware, Yitzchak, who asked not to be identified by his surname, and whose house was robbed on August 16th, is reporting that his losses were far greater, including a Patek Philippe watch.

“They took my watch collection, my wife’s jewelry and all my silver,” Yitzchak told VIN News.

Yitzchak, who has a security camera in front of his home, said that the robber entered his house, located on 17th Avenue, by using a crowbar to force open a rear window.

    Below is surveillance video.

Yitzchak’s house backs onto an empty lot and according to Yitzcahk, someone tried to pry open a window at his neighbor’s house just one week earlier.

Video surveillance footage previously distributed by the NYPD was taken from Yitzcak’s house, but was accidentally released at the wrong speed.

New footage released by Yitzcahk shows the burglar appearing three different times wandering through the family room. The camera, which recorded the burglar between 11 and 11:30 PM, is the only video camera inside the house.

Yitzchak is offering a $10,000 reward through the NYPD for information that leads to the recovery of his stolen property.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS or to contact them at nypd.crimestoppers.com.

One has to wonder what this Yitzy uses for brains? Even under the best of circumstances, who leaves a watch collection (with a Patek Phillipe watch) and lots of jewelry and silver in an unattended home while off in the Catskills (or elsewhere). OK, Yitzy thought someone like this wouldn’t happen to such an erhliche yid in such a fine neighborhood. But then Yitzy tells us that he knew that someone tried to break in to his neighbor’s home just a week earlier but he did nothing to install additional security (assuming he already had your standard home alarm system and a securely locked safe for all these valuables). Nope…it seems like Yitzy has lot of bitachon and now is the proud owner of a video showing his home being robbed. Mi kamocha yisroel…..

Very smart move – this man is brilliant – ממנו ילמדו וכן יעשו

I just hope and pray that we should catch this thief and find the stolen valuables.

why only a video camera in family room? what about the front door or back door?
also where did he keep the jewelry and watch collection? out in the open?

Perhaps spending a little more on up-to-date security would have saved Yitzi some money.

Why no security cameras around the house? I installed 4 Sony color cameras, 720 dpi, internet accessible for under 2,000. I can now watch my house from wherever I am. Every entrance is covered, the backyard, the sideyard, the driveway, the front door. Images are kept about 30 days. Works in low/no light with infrared but only black and white. Used to have a burglar alarm that was always going off on Shabbos and middle of the night. This is better and cheaper. Every house should have such a system. Prices keep coming down and quality up. Burglars will learn to avoid blocks that have these cameras.

I’m happy for the victim that at least he knows where the thug came in from.
