The Mayor said, The final bill before me, allows the Department of Transportation, with the approval of the Franchise Concession Review Committee, to extend the operating authority of two unsubsidized bus services who are scheduled to expire.
The services are Private Transportation Corp. which transports approximately 600,000 passengers annually between Williamsburg and Borough Park in Brooklyn, and Private One of New York, LLC, operating as New York Airport Service, which transports approximately 900,000 passengers annually from Grand Central Station to LaGuardia and Kennedy Airports, and between the two airports.
“This bill will allow for an extension of the operating authority of these bus services until June 30, 2009, Bloomberg said.
“I would like to thank Department of Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan and her staff for their work on this bill. I would also like to thank the City Council for approving the legislation,” the Mayor added.
Very good Yakov! I didn’t know that 600,000 guys a year! WOW!
can anyone explain what this means for us…
it means that yankel mermolstein will make more money
and we the peple will not need to go on the trifene subway etc.
Coruption in the making! Why wasn’t this service put on a bid? Cuz yankel and his lobby firm paid millions to corupt council members…way to go mr. Mayer!!!!
Why can’t he make money?????? Who is he hurting???????
the service is quite punctual and a lifesaver
I think we should all call 311 and complain about the service of this bus service.
It is not fair they give us old buses and the worst service in the industry.
The only way to fight it is to keep on calling 311 and complaining about this service.
Let the Department of transportation know how they are treating the customers and this service most be put for a bit who will give us the best service.
And NOT the treat the Oilem as sheep to the slaughter house.
to anon 10:44 If you want limousine service, check out the yellow pages.
to anon 11:19 – if you want a roller coaster ride you can go to Great Adventures… or the Boro Park BUS???

And he and his wife can continue to do all the Mitzvos and Tzeduke that they do ‘shtiller heit’ ad meah v’esrim shana.
The Williamsburg/Boro Park bus is excellent. I work in Williamsburg and use the bus every day.
Sure there are things that can be improved such as not have the air conditoning system drip on your head. Plus, the “new” seats that were installed this past winter, have lost all their firmness years ago , so that when you sit down, you found yourself VERY low and uncomfortable.
With that said, its still the best for connecting the two locations. So stop complaining and hop on board.
to anonymous 10:44 – calling 311 sounds like mesira to me. how about calling the owner and asking for improvements? or just finding another means of transportation if its that bad…

I know the owner Mr. Jack Marmarstein he is from the biggest Bali Tzeduka in our community. I know that he is giving thousands of dollars for Tzdaka and everything with out publicity.
i wish Yakov will have it for 20 more years! if you know Yakov well you would wish him the same.
so all the money we pay for the bus instead of going for new busses, it goes strait to tzedaka? so we could pay for the bus fare with maaser money, right?
Yes, you all are right. Going to the DOT about this does smell with Mesirah. But they too are obligated in providing satifactory service to the public. This includes, late-model compfortible buses, working ac, descent behavior from the drivers, etc. etc. A meeting, called by several Askanim, took place this week at Councilman Felder’s office where 100+ pettitions, signed by as many dissatisfied patrons, were presented. A list of complaints were outlined. Several recommendations were made. The councilman assrued all participants that he will do everything to correct the problems.
